Job Description

Key Responsibility

Community Mobilization and Engagement

  • Identify, vet and engage potential beneficiaries
  • Generate a profile of the beneficiaries, both individual and group profiles
  • To lead in creating awareness in the communities on the project goals through mobilization meetings
  • Organize sports days, field days, farmer days and fairs in liaison with the project coordinator and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain a database of all the beneficiaries within the project

 

Delivering Technical Excellence

  • Conduct needs assessment to determine farmer and group learning needs to feed into the training schedules
  • Train the beneficiary groups in group dynamics, financial literacy, agribusiness and other identified training thematic areas
  • Train farmers in table banking/Village Savings and Loan Associations and SACCO development
  • Develop training materials to be used for group and individual trainings
  • Make a follow up of beneficiaries for backstopping purposes and articulate challenges faced to the project coordinator and programs manager
  • Take lead in building the capacity of farmers and farmer groups to effectively engage with the markets

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting

  • Adopt Farm Africa’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) practices and frameworks and ensure that data is actively collected and analysed, with managed data feeding into project delivery
  • Ensure systematic and timely collection of agreed project data and its accurate analysis to inform project decision making
  • Ensure that project reports are frequently compiled and submitted in line with Farm Africa  guidelines and donor requirements

 

Visibility and Communication

  • Ensure regular and effective communication material are maintained within the project, Kenya Country Office and implementing partners
  • In liaison with the communications officer, periodically document project success through photography, case studies, fact sheets and other communication material

 

Organisation

  • To play an active role as a member of the Farm Africa Kenya team
  • Identify and advise the PC and PM on opportunities to grow and expand the country project pipeline, both in relation to the current project or related to new project opportunities for Farm Africa Kenya
  • In consultation with the PC and PM to act as an ambassador, promoting the project and the work of Farm Africa, including hosting visitors, speaking at workshops, conferences and meeting donors and other officials as and when required
  • To ensure that the project contributes to, responds to and complies with all relevant agriculture sector policy developments
  • To contribute to the development of Farm Africa policies and strategies related to smallholder climate smart agriculture
